Southeastern Rockers The Rat Race To Perform After 8 Year Absence KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rat Race announces the band's first live performance in more than 8 years, to be hosted at SoHo in Columbus, GA on Saturday January 15th. From 1993 to 1997 The Rat Race recorded 3 CDs with well known producer and engineer Neal Avron. These include "Alice" recorded in 1993, "Uncle Jim's Secret Garden" recorded in 1995, and "Live Unelectrified" recorded in 1996. With a proven track record as one of the South's premier musical acts, The Rat Race toured extensively and took no prisoners both live and on record with their brand of from-the-heart rock and roll. They performed with such diverse musical acts as Widespread Panic, Dave Mathews Band, The Guess Who, Vince Neil, Great White and 311. The band's anthem "Six Feet Off The Ground" received national airplay and was a hit in numerous clubs and on college campuses across the Southeast. The Band is presently wrapping up rehearsals and gearing for the upcoming January 15th show in Columbus as well as for additional shows in 2005. The current band line up is: Derek Welsh: lead vocals, guitar. Lance Lisenby: lead guitar, backing vocals. Richard Hatcher: bass, backing vocals. Pat Bailey: drums, backing vocals. Welsh, Hatcher, and Bailey are all members of the popular rock band, McQueen Street. Fans of the band can expect to hear nearly all of the material from their 3 discs, including favorites "6 Feet Off The Ground", "Mr. Mushroom", "Alice", and "Uncle Jim's Secret Garden" at the upcoming concert.
