Livingston Taylor Headlines Salvation Army Christmas Spectacular NEW YORK, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Livingston Taylor, one of the more engaging pop singers of the last 30 years, will bring his warm and intimate style to The Salvation Army on Friday, Dec. 17, 7:25 p.m., as part of Christmas Spectacular to be held at the Centennial Memorial Temple, 120 West 14th St., Manhattan. Taylor will join a lineup of talented Salvation Army musicians to celebrate the holiday season with a show that will feature music, dance and drama. Although not as well known as his brother, James, Livingston Taylor has certainly had a long and productive career as a singer/songwriter. He has performed for more than 30 years, recorded 11 albums and toured with such headliners as Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffett, Fleetwood Mac and Jethro Tull. In concert he has earned a reputation as a charming and congenial performer, integrating humor and storytelling into his act. Raised in Chapel Hill, N.C., Taylor now resides in Boston where he is the Artist-in-Residence at Harvard University in addition to lecturing regularly at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Besides teaching, he maintains a vigorous performing schedule, with more than 100 performances a year. Recently, Taylor has donated his time and talent to The Salvation Army. He performed at the organization's Annual Association Luncheon on Dec. 2 and is performing at the Centennial Memorial Temple at no cost to The Salvation Army. For the Christmas Spectacular, he will join several talented Salvation Army performers, including a brass ensemble, drama teams from Salvation Army centers, "toy soldier" timbrelists, dance groups and vocal soloists. Stephen Bulla, Chief Arranger for the White House Orchestra, has arranged special music for the show.
